Happy Fourth of July Vermack!

As we are beginning to hear of more Covid-19 cases in the Dunwoody and Metro area, I want to remind everyone of the importance of working together to keep our Club and neighbors safe. I have learned through an e-mail chain with Board Members from other Clubs in the area that two nearby pools / neighborhoods have recently had members test positive for Covid-19.

Everyone must use the pool and tennis reservation systems to ensure we limit attendance and adhere to the appropriate social distancing practices. The reservation system will also help us contact trace, should we need to do so. Without doing a formal headcount, we may have had more than 60 people at the pool during some sessions this weekend and the tennis gazebos have been crowded.

Please continue to be diligent in wiping down surfaces and use sanitizer at the entrance (or bring your own). There are 4 spray bottles full of disinfectant in the guard room for use at the Club. Ask one of the guards – Kennedy, Maddy, Logan or Livvy - if you need to borrow some.

Since the Club has been one of the few places where we get to feel "normal" these days, it's easy to sometimes forget that we are living amid a pandemic.

What if someone tests positive who has attended Vermack?

  • PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE POOL if you have tested positive for Covid-19, even if you are asymptomatic.
  • If you have had a fever (99.5 F or above) or have been sick (including but not limited to, cough, throat, stomach issues, breathing difficulties and/or chest tightness), or have been in contact with anyone confirmed to have Covid-19, PLEASE stay at home and do not attend the pool. Even if you personally believe you are not sick, you should stay home out of caution, to ensure everyone else is not just safe, but feels comfortable.
  • If we do have someone test positive, we would encourage them to get tested and quarantine per CDC, county and state guidelines.
  • Like another Club in the area, we will use our reservation systems to contact trace and e-mail all members who were there at same time, or after.
  • We will consider closing the impacted area of the Club (pool, tennis or playground) for 24-36 hours.
  • The DeKalb County health department did have a nearby pool close for a period. All areas were cleaned, and they were allowed reopen their pool for 36 hours later.
